Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Trauma & Addiction Specialist | Advocate for Resilience and Recovery
I’m Jacquelyn Geringer, LMHC — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Hawaii, deeply committed to helping people heal, grow, and reclaim their lives. My path into mental health care has been shaped by both professional experience and a lifelong passion for supporting others through life’s most difficult chapters. I earned my Master’s degree in Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu and am currently pursuing a Doctorate at Liberty University in Education with a focus on trauma, further expanding my ability to serve those navigating complex emotional and psychological challenges.
What sets my work apart is the holistic lens I bring to therapy. With a background spanning physical therapy, athletic coaching, and clinical counseling, I understand that healing is not just psychological — it’s physical, emotional, and deeply interconnected. This whole-person perspective informs every part of my practice and allows me to support clients in building resilience from the inside out.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse and challenging environments, including Oahu’s Drug Court, correctional facilities, community treatment programs, hospitals, and universities. My experience includes supporting individuals navigating incarceration and probation, those experiencing homelessness, college students, and patients at both Hawaii State Hospital and Gregory House. These experiences have reinforced my belief that no matter a person’s past or present, healing and growth are always possible.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Choice Theory, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). At the same time, I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. Each client’s story is unique, and I tailor my methods to meet their individual needs, cultural context, and personal goals.
I specialize in working with individuals facing addiction and substance use disorders, as well as those navigating the challenges of reintegration after incarceration. My work also extends to those seeking faith-based support or simply needing guidance as they move through life’s transitions. Across every area of my practice, my mission remains the same: to foster healing, empower growth, and help people rediscover a sense of purpose and possibility.
Above all, I believe in creating a therapeutic space defined by openness, compassion, and honest communication — a space where every client feels seen, supported, and capable of transformation
